The Biochemistry Significance of Seamaty Vet Reagent

release time:2022-01-21 10:41:37

Today, we will briefly introduce the biochemical significance of Seamaty's "9 Diabetes Test Parameters". The featured item in the "9 Diabetes Test Parameters" reagent tray is fructosamine.

Fructosamine is more accurate than other items to diagnose diabetes that has occurred in animals within the last 1-2 weeks, and it can also effectively rule out hyperglycemia caused by stress (especially felines). Continuous monitoring of fructosamine (test every 7 days) can reflect the effect of insulin therapy effectively.
In addition to the parameter “Fru”, this reagent panel contains the following tests: ALT, AMY, AST, GLU, LPS, TC, TG, LAC.

1. AST
AST levels in animals are elevated when the following conditions occur:
(1) Diseases of the hepatobiliary system.
(2) Skeletal muscle disease (injury, lysis, bacterial infection, nutritional myopathy, canine degenerative myopathy, etc.)
(3) Myocardial injury and necrosis.
(4) Non-specific tissue damage (increased cell damage, sepsis, aflatoxin poisoning, hernia pain, etc.).

2. GLU
Elevated levels of GLU in animals are usually due to the following reasons.
(1) Pathologically elevated.
a. Diabetes mellitus.
b. Chronic liver diseases.
c. Endocrine disorders.
(2) Non-pathological elevation of.
a. Drugs (glucose, steroid hormones, adrenocorticotropic hormones, thiazide diuretics, etc.)
b. Stress elevations.
c. Post-feeding tests, etc.
Decreased levels of GLU in the blood usually also mean:
(1) Reduced glucose production or secretion: seen in intestinal non-absorption, progressive liver disease, hyperaldosteronism, etc.
(2) Undernutrition, starvation, idiopathic in young animals.
(3) Hyperinsulinism, tumors, exercise, renal diabetes.
(4) Samples left for too long.

3. TG
Increased TG levels are usually due to animals suffering from diseases such as pancreatitis, hypothyroidism, liver fat deposition syndrome, bile duct blockage, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. Testing the animals after they have eaten also increases TG levels.
