Romania, as one of the EU member states, is located in the middle of the EU. Romania has a land area of 238,391 square kilometers and a population of 19.94 million, where the famous Danube River flows into the Black Sea.

With steady domestic economic growth, Romania was listed as a high-income economy by the World Bank in 2019, making it an important emerging market in Europe. At the same time, its regional and international influence is growing, and Romania has earned the reputation of being the "Tiger of Europe".

Like other Eastern European countries, Romania has a complex health insurance system. In other words, the state provides the health fund, and companies (workplaces) pay 6% of the minimum wage (e.g. Poland), which is transferred to the national health fund, without individual contributions.

Basic medical care in public hospitals is free of charge, and part of the treatment of special diseases and medical expenses are borne by individuals. In Ukraine, for example, hospital treatment is free and patients pay for their own medicine; all costs are waived during hospitalization.

The Eastern European countries with such a good social security system have recently published an opinion poll in the Sunday Weekly that nearly two-thirds (63%) of the people have to give up medical treatment due to financial constraints or because of difficulties in obtaining a visit to a doctor within a reasonable period of time.

Long distances make access to medical care difficult

According to the poll, 44 percent of respondents reported having to wait a long time to get a doctor's appointment, and 25 percent mentioned a lack of doctors in their neighborhood.  During the last two years, 17% of respondents said they had to go to the hospital emergency room because they could not get an appointment with a doctor who was available to admit more patients.   -

Long hours and many round trips

Respondents reported that to get an appointment to see a specialist. The average wait for an eye doctor is three months and two days, for a dermatologist two months and three days, for a gynecologist one month and 23 days, and for an otolaryngologist one month and 14 days. It also takes 24 to 48 hours to get the report after the test, which means many trips back and forth and a lot of effort.

Expensive to see a doctor, with out-of-pocket expenses

In addition, 67% of respondents said that when they go to see a specialist, they sometimes encounter doctors who overcharge for consultations. 58% of respondents believe that the amount of out-of-pocket medical expenses has increased in recent years, and 30% of people have given up receiving medical treatment because they cannot pay the medical expenses up front (and then wait for reimbursement).

Difficulty in accessing medical care, diagnosis, and medication

Seamaty has taken Europe by storm. In order to solve the problem of difficult access, diagnosis and medication, Dr. Laurentiu Lvanof, located in the town of Babadag, Romania, created the Allegra Medical Center to replace the city hospital.

And, in order to diagnose patients better and faster and to increase medical satisfaction, Dr. Laurentiu Lvanof also set out to find a biochemical analyzer that would simplify the workflow, save time and, more importantly, reduce costs.

SMT-120 biochemistry analyzer - a high-value device

After much analysis and comparison, he finally chose to order the Seamaty SMT-120 biochemistry analyzer from CHG International Medical.

"The SMT-120 is a smart and lightweight device that is extremely easy to use, does not require specialized personnel and can be operated by all. This biochemistry analyzer can also test multiple items simultaneously, at low cost and without maintenance. For us, it is a biochemistry analyzer that brings a lot of value to the table."

"Where it used to take 24 to 48 hours to get the results, now I can provide the patient with a complete biochemistry test in 12 minutes, and then combine it with an ultrasound test and a little analysis. This helps me establish a good diagnosis of, for example, cirrhosis of the liver. The SMT-120 biochemistry analyzer not only reduces the number of patient round trips and saves time for our clients, but also increases our productivity and receives more patients."

"In addition, the SMT-120 uses microfluidic technology and reagents are integrated in reagent trays with a QR code that records batch data, expiration dates, calibrations and zones. the Seamaty SMT-120 is also equipped with a thermal printer that automatically prints results and massive storage for up to 500,000 results."

"Basically, the Seamaty SMT-120 is the shortest path to clear, accurate and fast diagnostics, and in some cases, we consider it a lifesaver."

Seamaty has been deeply involved in the medical and veterinary diagnostic industry, providing instant test (POCT) medical equipment worldwide.
